Steven Newbold
Steven started playing music in his early years. His mother first taught him piano lessons at the age of 5. He then began to play the French horn at the age of 11 and went on to receive a Bachelor's of Music (BM) from Brigham Young University and a Master's of Music (MM) from the University of Southern California on the French horn. Steven has performed with the Long Beach Symphony, San Antonio Symphony and played with the Houston Ballet Orchestra for two years. He also taught many French horn students along the way. Steven went back to school and received a Doctorate Degree in Composition (DMA) from Claremont Graduate University. He first began composing and arranging music in high school and continues to arrange and compose music for piano, choir, brass and woodwind ensembles, string ensembles and orchestras. He has published instrumental and vocal church music with Jackman Music. Steven grew up in Houston, TX and now resides with his wife and family in Southern California and teaches Music Theory and Musicianship at Fullerton College.
Steven's musical influences are Sergei Prokofiev, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst, Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein and Jerry Goldsmith.
